In View of Water
This artwork is composed of resin, a television monitor, a DVD player, and found objects.
A naturally shaped stone is recreated and colored using resin, with real moss attached to its surface to enhance its sense of realism. Embedded in the center of the stone is a television monitor displaying continuously changing video images of reflections of urban architecture on water.
A small found-object figure of an elderly man sits by the water’s edge, quietly fishing.
The inspiration for this work comes from a Zen story I encountered titled Watching Reflections by the Water. The scene reflects an Asian cultural understanding and wisdom concerning time and life, inviting contemplation on the fleeting nature of existence, perception, and the passage of time.
